Volunteers from International Services are assembling tomorrow, January 21, to continue work on the Freedom Barn.  Pray for safety for the workers and a productive day for all involved.  Thank you, Father, for people who work all week and still give up their Saturdays to see that the Freedom Barn is ready for use and for dedication on February 18.

This has been a great week for volunteers at Emerald Hills.  Thank you, God, once again for the work the crew from Fern Creek accomplished last Saturday.  Thank you for the work that Aaron and Joe Wilson have done this week.  Thank you again for Jerry Edlin and his carpentry skills and the creation of the staircase.  Thank you for the way the Freedom Barn is coming along.  We are anticipating a great day of dedication on February 18.  Prepare us for that day, dear Father.

Pray that the Freedom Barn Dedication, scheduled for Feb. 18, will glorify God and not man . . . that the service will pull together the elements God intends . . . that He will be lifted up and that His will could be accomplished in us. Pray that God will pull together the exact group He desires to be there on Feb. 18… and that the content of the service will be exactly the content he longs to see occur. Ask that this service can somehow provide a launching pad for future milestones, again, for the glory of God.

Please ask the Lord to heal the mother of one of our volunteers, Jerry Edlin. (Jerry has really adopted a carpentry project in the Freedom Barn. His home-building experience shows through in his attention to detail, his thoroughness and "finish-orientation". His mother has a pneumonia-like condition. Jerry will likely go down to be with her this weekend. Pray he’ll have safe travel to and from Florida. Ask the Lord to guide the doctors and technicians caring for her . . . that they’ll be at the top of their game, well-rested, and alert as they give attention to her. "Lord, help them think ‘outside the box’ to give her the most innovative, state-of-the-art care imaginable. We pray she’ll get well soon. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

 

Please give thanks to the Lord for Jerry and other volunteers like him. They have saved us literally tens of thousands of dollars . . . and they make Emerald Hills feel like a community instead of a job.

Today, please pray for Joe Wilson as today he continues to tackle the ductwork associated with Furnace #3 in the Freedom Barn at Emerald Hills. "Lord, please bless his family as he’s away from them. Help him to stay warm at night and during the long days. Help the sheet metal to cooperate and preserve him from injury. And please help him with his support-raising as he prays, plans, and works for the day when he can be with us as our full-time Facility Manager. Thank you for the gifts and skills you’ve given him!"

Also, please give special thanks for Jerry E., who headed back to the Freedom Barn this afternoon to continue work on the unfinished staircase that will eventually lead up to the loft. When it’s complete, we’ll show pictures in the Picture Gallery. "Thank you Lord for men like Jerry who, in spite of all that fills his day, determine to give sacrificially of their time and talents. Thanks for the 2000 homes that Jerry has built — which prepare him amazingly for the work he’s doing at the Freedom Barn. Today we pray especially for his mother in Florida, Lord, with a condition similar to Pneumonia. Please assist her breathing, clear her infection and congestion, and bring her to complete health. If Jerry has to travel down there this weekend, please allow him to travel safely there and back to encourage her. In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

Rats… We can’t publish their name here. Let’s just call them D. and T. But please join us as we pray… "Lord thanks for D. and T. as they labor in Southeast Asia for your glory. Thanks for their ministry, which has as its goal the launching of an indigenous church-planting movement in their country. Thanks for the work they’re doing which puts them in touch with people there. We pray they’ll be able to continue their work unhindered. Bless their ministry and their future, … In Jesus’s Name we pray, Amen."

 

PS. D. and T. visit Emerald Hills tomorrow for the work day. They’ll pitch in on drywall and take a tour of the property. Thanks D. and T.!
